Collection of Information
Long Lines is subject to applicable legal restrictions, such as those that exist for Customer Proprietary Network Information (CPNI). CPNI is information Long Lines obtains when providing your telecommunication services to you. CPNI includes services you currently have, plus usage and billing information for those services, including call details. Your name, telephone number and address are not considered CPNI.
We collect personally identifiable information, like names, postal addresses, email addresses, etc., when voluntarily submitted by our visitors on our Web site. The information you provide is used to fulfill your specific request. This information is only used to fulfill your specific request, unless you give us permission to use it in another manner, for example to add you to one of our mailing lists.
The Site may use cookie and tracking technology depending on the features offered. Cookie and tracking technology are useful for gathering information such as browser type and operating system, tracking the number of visitors to the Site, and understanding how visitors use the Site. Cookies can also help customize the Site for visitors. Personal information cannot be collected via cookies and other tracking technology, however, if you previously provided personally identifiable information, cookies may be tied to such information. Aggregate cookie and tracking information may be shared with third parties.
Distribution of Information
We may share information with governmental agencies or other companies assisting us in fraud prevention or investigation. We may do so when: (1) permitted or required by law; or, (2) trying to protect against or prevent actual or potential fraud or unauthorized transactions; or, (3) investigating fraud which has already taken place. The information is not provided to these companies for marketing purposes.
CPNI is collected and maintained in the normal course of providing telecommunications services. Long Lines respects your privacy and observes the privacy rules established by the Federal Communications Commission, the State Public Utility Commission and other telecom oversight agencies.
Generally, we use your CPNI information for:
- Billing and invoicing
- Inter-carrier billing
- Directory Listings
- Provisioning of customer services and products
- Technical support
- Service provisioning by independent contractors
- Fraud protection
We use your CPNI to offer you additional services from us outside the existing business relationship we have with you. For example, if you have our local phone service, you may be interested to learn about specials on our cable and wireless services. If you wish to opt-out of such marketing campaigns, please call 712.271.4000. Opting out will not affect any services or products you have.
Commitment to Data Security
Your personally identifiable information is kept secure. The FCC requires customers provide a password when contacting Long Lines before we can release call-detail CPNI to ensure the privacy of your CPNI. Long Lines will never sell your account information or provide details of your telephone calls to other parties, unless required by law enforcement. Only authorized employees, agents and contractors (who have agreed to keep information secure and confidential) have access to this information. All emails and newsletters from this site allow you to opt out of further mailings.
Long Lines' practices with respect to CPNI access and required notifications will essentially be the same for our residential and small business customers. But in cases where Long Lines and a business have a contractual relationship, and the business has access to a dedicated account representative, the authentication process used by the parties may be different and notifications might not be sent. In these cases, Long Lines will verify a person's authority to discuss account information through communications with the person claiming to represent the account holder.
