Long Lines Launches Secure Data Center
Providing Protection to Businesses During a Time of Uncertainty
SERGEANT BLUFF, IA (Thursday, March 5, 2009) - Long Lines, a leading provider of telecommunication services, announced today the opening of an underground secured data center, the first of its kind in this region of the United States. The Long Lines Secure Data Center will provide state-of-the-art facilities for offsite data storage and will protect mission critical data from natural disasters and security breaches.
The 4,000-square-foot facility, constructed with concrete and steel walls to provide durability in times of natural disasters, is built safely into the hillside of the Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC) campus in Sioux City, Iowa. The Secure Data Center is housed within WITCC's newly announced Security Institute, which provides residents with a new emergency call center, as well as a training location for all emergency and disaster responders.
Access to the Secure Data Center is allowed through an advanced 3-step entry process. This process includes pin number entry, fingerprint identification technology and an authorized Long Lines personnel escort to the underground location. The facility itself is armed with cameras inside to monitor and protect the area.
"This is a time when businesses are seeking security and protection for their technology and data files," said Jon Winkel, Chief Executive Officer. "I believe that Long Lines is leading the efforts in tackling these challenges, and has brought an innovative solution to the Region."
Think about where your business would be without access to email or the Internet. According to Winkel, technology like this is no longer a luxury, it is critical to the success of almost every business. "Businesses are continually spending money on equipment and bringing IT efforts in-house, in an attempt to protect and manage their data," adds Winkel.
"In a matter of minutes, these essential pieces of equipment and information for any business can be destroyed by a flood, tornado, fire or other disaster," says Winkel. "The Secure Data Center is able to provide these businesses with the proper security and protection that reassures them their technology is safe."
